Orlando races to build arts center that promises to be money pit

We are not Dallas and we are not Miami, she says.

Of course I might argue that, even worse, we are Orlando.

But even if we werent, there are interesting questions surrounding the long-term viability of the performing arts in their current form.

A report released by the National Endowment for the Arts last year noted a precipitous decline in attendance at symphonies, plays, ballets and most every other form of artistic expression not involving Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift.
